Description

Day 1: Arrival and Guided Dune Forest Walk Begin with a guided drive toward Mozambique’s coast, crossing into a remote stretch of shoreline rarely visited by independent travelers. Upon arrival at Dune Beach Hostel in Calanga, be welcomed by your trip leader and introduced to the surrounding environment. In the afternoon, embark on a guided walk through the coastal rainforest nestled between towering sand dunes. Led by your guide, explore a unique ecosystem where forest, dune, and ocean environments meet. Along the way, hear insights into local plant life, traditional uses of forest resources, and the natural rhythms of the coastal landscape. After the walk, settle into your comfortably prepared glamping tents, set within the dunes and designed to blend into the natural environment. The evening is hosted communally, with a shared meal and time around the camp, allowing you to unwind, connect, and enjoy the sounds of the ocean under the stars. Day 2: Guided Beach Horse Safari and Coastal Exploration On day two, enjoy the signature activity of the experience: a guided horse safari along the untouched beaches of Calanga. After a hosted briefing and introduction to the horses, set out with experienced guides for a relaxed ride along the shoreline. The pace is calm and suitable for beginners, with the focus on enjoying the coastal scenery rather than riding speed or technical skills. The horses are carefully selected and accustomed to beach conditions, and the guide ensures each guest feels comfortable and confident throughout. Riding along the wide, empty beach offers a rare perspective of the coastline, with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and coastal dunes. Following the horse safari, the guide leads a coastal exploration walk, sharing stories of the local fishing culture, village life, and the history of the region. There is time for swimming, beachcombing, and guided relaxation by the ocean, always with the trip leader present to facilitate the experience. The afternoon and evening are spent hosted at the camp, with time to rest, share experiences, and enjoy another communal meal. As night falls, gather under the stars, far from artificial light, making this one of the most atmospheric parts of the journey. Day 3: Sunrise Coast Walk and Departure On the final morning, join a guided sunrise beach walk, an optional but recommended way to experience the coastline in its quietest and most peaceful state. With guidance from the trip leader, this walk focuses on observing marine life signs, coastal bird activity, and the ever-changing patterns of the ocean and dunes. After breakfast and time to pack, the group departs together for the return journey, concluding the guided experience.
